LATEST BREAKING NEWS:
After State of Emergency in Nepal, the Maoist Rebels launched a massive attack in Achham District which caused death of more than 165 people including Chief District Officer, Investigation Officer, 55 Soldiers, 87 Policemen,
number of Maoist Rebels and other civilians. The terrible attack took place on the context of 7th Anniversary of Maoist's People's War and 5 days before the date of renewing State of Emergency from the Parliament.
The State of Emergency was declared on 26 November after the massive attack by Maoist Rebels in Dang and Syangja districts on 23 November 2001 in which more than 40 Soldiers and Policemen were killed.
After State of Emergency, the fundamental rights and all human rights are completely collapsed. During three months period, the death toll has been reached up to 500 in Maoist side and more than 300 in Government side. Many other innocent civilians are also killed by both sides. During six years of Maoist insurgency, about 3000 people have been killed and many others disappeared
and jailed. The peaceful dialogue took place many times between the Government and Maoists to settle the problems, but it could reach on no any decision at all. So, the Maoists broke the four months long cease fire on 23 November 2001 and launched the violent war again.

Action by HURPEC: WE, the HURPEC (Human Rights and Peace Campaign) is deeply concerned over the current situation of Nepal and Sunday night killings by Maoists Rebels. We extremely condemn the killings of people either by the Maoist Rebels in the name of People's War or by the Army/police in the name of State of Emergency. We believe that the Killings of the people will never bring peace in the Nation, and it is the crime against humanity and human rights. So, we demand with the Government and Maoist to settle the problems through peaceful dialogue at any way. We request both of them to respect the human rights of the people andGeneva Convention 1949 at all times. We also
appeal all Nepalese Brothers and Sisters to move on peaceful movements immediately to restore democracy, human rights and peace in Nation.
