Dear Mr. Trent Lott,
        Mr. Newt Gingrich,

An old Chinese maxim "execute one to warn one hundred". Mainland China's ruling Communist Party's widest crackdown against dissent in at least three years.

The Communist Party has created deep anxiety among mainland Chinese intellectuals who have pushed a lively, if careful, debate over the need to reform the mainland's autocratic political system. For some reasons leader's refuse to face the trouble. Such story in Malaysia also, sacked Malaysian Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim is seen with a black eye when he appeared in court on Sept. 30, Malaysia's attorney-general was quoted on Tuesday (Jan. 5, 1999) as saying police were "fully responsible" for injuries caused to Anwar while he was in custody.

Nevertheless; Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who had called Anwar morally unfit after sacking him, said the injuries might have been self-inflicted.

Beijing, Jan. 5 ---
Mainland China on Tuesday denied a report by the Vatican news agency that police had subjected a Catholic priest to "sexual torture" in order to make him reveal his contacts with underground priests. Catholics in mainland are split between the "official" church with four million followers, which is recognized by the state and the clandestine church which is outlawed by Beijing but recognized by Rome.

The clandestine church is forced to hold secret masses for its estimated 10 million members. Beijing has not had diplomatic ties with the Vatican since 1957, as the latter recognized its rival Taiwan.

Meanwhile; Beijing, Jan. 5 ---
An India-based Tibetan rights group has punished personal accounts accusing Beijing of widespread torture in Tibet including the use of electric shock aerial suspension and sexual assault.

The report related the experience of a 28-year-old nun Tenzin Choedon who was sexually abused with electric batons. "First I was hit with a stick all over my body, after five strikes, my body became senseless. As I was coming back to my sense, I saw my fellow nuns being abused with electric batons, in their anuses. They inserted a stick into my vagina four times with full force and the stick was rammed into my mouth" she said. "The personal accounts of torture victims in this report represent only a fraction of the real situation in Tibet".

We know that, in other words, mainland Chinese people needs your help.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
