The worsening of the living environment, the increasing individual psychological pressures and disappointing in public safety are all extended from infant's oral stage which centers on the satisfying of one's basic survival. During this stage, people tend to feel out of balance and thirst for sensual pleasures and feelings. The reason why "oral civilization" is prosperous is because it is the product of extended oral stage. Taiwanese has this saying, "Died of eating too much is better than starved to death;" eating one's heart out is a shift of psychological self-defending mechanism as well as bringing the function of id into full display. On the other hand, because we don't quite understand Taiwan's cultural background, history and geography, we tend to be very passive when it comes to learning more about our island and we tend to express a lack of love towards Taiwan. Over four hundred years of history, the education different generations receive fails to give rise to a common recognition among different generations towards Taiwan. This is a very serious problem in our education system. Under the influence of utilitarianism, people either worship money or center their lives on striving for a higher academic degree. Once people have money, they want knowledge and power; they would use money to buy a degree, use power to exchange for fame, and gradually this become a vicious circle. This is also a way to express our attitude of not identified with Taiwan. People do not usually know what they are doing, they merely follow their feelings thinking they have the power and background to get them things they want, and this is all they care about.

Anus stage is a restraining stage. During this stage, parents' neglecting children's moral education will greatly affect the children's knowledge of morality. If children do not get to learn to control themselves, eventually they would grow to think disrupting social order is not irrational and they would not feel guilty for their wrong behaviors. Those politicians who fight and argue beyond the point with one another in the parliament house, is a good example of the description above.
Adolescents often aim their targets at their parents; anus stage is then a product resulted from the struggle between the adolescent's self-requirements and the parents' requirements set for him. Adolescents at this stage would begin to repel parents; it is like the children dislike the feeling of smoking but they nevertheless learn and continue to smoke, because this is what adults do, so why cannot they do the same?! As a consequence, when the anus stage is twisted, there arises a phenomenon that, people only demand others to do their bidding but they never require themselves to do anything. If one always refute others and never restrain his own behaviors, his attitude will gradually influence his subconsciousness, give rise to a big turmoil in his life and there will be more and more liars in the world. Chinese people on both sides of Taiwan Strait all have this tendency of not being truthful. People in mainland China for example, they have no choice but learn to disguise themselves, pretend to be like someone they are not, all for the sake of survival after the Cultural Revolution.

Children from three to six years old are in phallic stage, the corresponding behaviors are best represented by the pursuing of sexual sensations. This is also one of the major reasons why R-rated movies always attract a lot of audience. If a person's phallic stage development was not normal, this problem can extend to become the worshipping of sexual power, like homosexuality, sexual abuse or raping etc. Taiwan has many movies made to stimulate the audience's sensations for the sake of higher watching rates, hence there are usually some sexually abusive scenes or abnormal sexual intercourse scenes misleading young people to think this is what a modern man or woman does in today's society.

Generally speaking, Taiwan is not strong enough; the establishment of Taiwanese culture and civilization is not solidly stable yet; people's recognition towards Taiwan is becoming lower and lower, and Taiwanese are constantly stimulated by various mass medium, including sexual movies or programs. Taiwanese will become very demanding towards other people while being very lax about themselves: we want others to trust us, and those we identify ourselves with must be flawless, holy, and virtuous people, while we don't have such requirements for ourselves so we can do anything we want. Today many Taiwanese who share the repressing of their personality think that, if one's psychological self-defending modulation was not well shifted will result in: (1) insomnia, (2) nightmares, and (3) nervous system illnesses. When one is psychologically out of balance and satisfying his mouth solves his symptoms, he is no doubt a typical product of the civilization of taking medication and wasting foods. This explains why Taiwan wins the "championship" of taking medication among worldwide civilizations.
