Dear Mr. Chris Patten,

We receive the message from the official of R.O.C. Foreign Ministry. It is an honor for us to introduce our foundation in Taiwan to you.

Taiwan Tati Cultural and Educational Foundation was established by Dr. Yang Hsu-Tung on the day of July 8 1996, aiming to propagate Chinese culture as well as to re-establish Taiwan's social civilization. The official functions carried out by the Foundation in accordance with relevant laws are:

  1. Inviting scholars and experts to various seminars to explore, to analyze and hence to map out the particular features of Taiwanese civilization.
  2. To culture the populace with the choicest parts of Chinese civilization, so as to speed up the amalgamation between different clans or races.
  3. Seeking and praying for good fortunes for Taiwanese people, and caring for the defenseless minorities, in an effort to achieve the goal of harmonizing different groups of people in Taiwan.
  4. Organizing researches and lectures, in addition to publishing important dissertations in order to propagate the need of caring for the elderly and the disabled, as well as raising funds for the establishment of nursing homes for them.
  5. Engaging in objective researches and visits to various religious organizations when it comes to the issue of religious culture in Taiwan, in order to give rise to a guideline for true religious concepts.

The Foundation is focusing on the propagation of "a well-rounded education of all people" and the caring of the minority which includes the widowed, the orphaned, the sick and the disabled. The so-called "a well-rounded education of all people" includes giving rise to a common recognition towards Taiwanese civilization, mutual responses exchanged between Taiwan and mainland China, signs of danger our human race are facing, and the future development of peacefulness around the world ect.... All of which are " re-education" aiming to promote good fortunes for human race.

The Foundation is ceaselessly sponsoring various activities, lectures and seminars to propagate the concept of loving the elders, nursing the elders, and protecting the weak, in the hope of making Taiwan a safer place, stabilizing the relation between Taiwan and mainland China, and most of all, promoting a peaceful, harmonious world.

Yours Sincerely,
Staff Peter Lin
