Law-abiding Civilians under the Japanese rein

For the sake of easier governing, the Japanese established a system of residence listing and land property listing in order to better understand Taiwan's population spread. They worked very hard to implement the system, consequently, the civilians learned to abide by the law from then on. During that period of time, police officers were very powerful and just, even though people were ruled under high-handed measures. However, the natives' tough life they endured in the high mountains had made them tough and indomitable, which further led them to strongly oppose to Japanese education and Wu-Fon Massacre in the end.
