Dear Mr. Newt Gingrich,
Ahead of a state visit to mainland China by President Bill Clinton, the U.S. House of
Representatives last week( June 9, 1998) voted 411-0 for a resolution demanding Beijing
abandon its threat to invade Taiwan if the island, a staunch U.S. ally, declared
independence.
While the mainland Chinese comments were not a response to Clinton's speech, they were
the latest warning to the U.S. Congress not to sour the June 25 to July 3 state visit,
which will mark a new high in Sino-U.S. ties after years of antagonism.
We have a hopes that's business is only business, all about "security,
and safe" nerve sell again!
