Dear Mr. Kofi A. Annan,

Another experience in Taiwan that Taiwan people give more love to protect wildlife.

Taipei Nov.8 ---

Renowned British primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall on Nov. 8 1998 praised Taiwan's progress in wildlife conservation over the past few years.

"Taiwan has devoted much energy to wildlife conservation in recent years, and I'm delighted to see the island make apparent progress in this regard." Goodall said at the end of her third visit to here in as many years . Goodall, also known as "mother of chimpanzees" for her 35 year of devoted research into chimpanzees in Africa. "I will tell the world of Taiwan's achievements in wildlife conservation in recent years" Goodall said. " For the common well-being of mankind, every country on the earth should not ignore conservation work" she added.

The "Roots & Shoots" campaign launched by the Jane Goodall institute, is a conservation program for children. Goodall said earlier this week that she plans to help make Taiwan a "model country" for the Roots & Shoots " program. "I hope a total of 100 "roots & shoots " units can set up by the year 2000" she said.

Goodall was excited on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 1998) when she heard the English version of "The Song of Earth" composed by popular song write Lee Ching-sheng to promote nature conservation.

So; love Taiwan, love world. That Taiwan need your support.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
