Dear Mr. Kofi A. Annan,

Chinese authorities have arrested five Tibetan monks amid resistance to a government campaign to stamp out support for Dalai Lama, a monitoring group said yesterday (Jan. 19, 1999).

The monks from Kirti, one of the largest Tibetan monasteries, were arrested in November and December after authorities tightened control on religious activities, the London-based Tibet Information Network said.

One of the detained monks has been given a three-year prison sentence, the group said. It added that a Tibetan businessman and a former monk were arrested. The crackdown at the monastery in a mountainous Tibetan area of southwest Sichuan province 1,000 Kilometers east of Tibet's capital, Lhasa --- indicates Chinese officials are taking a nearly three-year-old campaign against supporters of the Dalai Lama to area outside of Tibet.

In our view; "endangering state security" is always the best reason to detain dissidents in China. There are no activists can keep long security in mainland China. On above reasons, why ? Democratic Taiwan must be isolated by Beijing authorities ?

In our view; "justice" of human rights to survive peacefully in which "country's power" ruined every kinds of "humanism". We believed "God's power" was existed in whole free countries. Mainland China needs your concern.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
