Dear Mr. Vice President Al Gore,
Manila, Philippines, Feb. 23 ---
The Philippine, and the United States should strengthen their military alliance against
threats to Asian security from mainland China, the head of a Washington-based think tank
said Thursday.
The back of effective U.S.-Philippine military cooperation has contributed
to a power vacuum in the region and communist China is filling it up, said
Edwin Feulner, President of the conservative Heritage Foundation, who is on a three-day
visit to Manila for talks with President Joseph Estrada and other senior officials, said
the United States should build a "clear and coherent" policy toward
Asia.
In our views; communist China is filling power vacuum after U.S. troops' withdrawal. How
to allow the resumption of U.S. military exercises in this sensitive area is necessity and
urgently need.
