Dear Mr. Kofi A. Annan,
Reports said; House Judiciary chairman Henry Hyde on Sunday(Dec.
13, 1998) urged President Bill Clinton to step down to spare
his country the "turmoil and tumult" of impeachment.
But Clinton ruled out resignation.
In our view; President Bill Clinton must go on his duty as
a leader of United States. "I have no intention
of resigning. It's never crossed my mind", a
grim faced Clinton told reporters in Jerusalem where he is trying
to revive the Middle East peace process.
Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said on CNN any suggestion
that Clinton would try to manufacture foreign policy crisis
to boost himself politically. "Undercut our
national security and I consider it basically reprehensible
for anybody to make a statement like that".
We agree with that Clinton's answer. "I don't believe
it's in the interests of the United States and the American
people, to go through this impeachment process and have a trial
in the Senate" Clinton told reporters during a photo session
here with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Despite the impeachment;
we saw U.S. and Palestinian flags swathed the control tower
at Gaza airport, hung from the street and fluttered from small
boats bobbing on the Mediterranean off Arafat's sea-front office.
"For 50 years they taught us the American
flag should be burned, now they are giving it to us to wave"
said one young Palestinian.
President Bill Clinton never hurt United States' benefits,
he has done well in our world, why ? Must do impeachment
with him because of private fault. We have the
same attitude about, ' Answering a question with Arafat at his
side, Clinton said the impeachment process was not in the United
States' interest. "I'm here serving America's
interests, trying to make peace in the Middle East"
he said.
However; if Clinton is impeachment there will be "a
vacuum of leadership" which would be harmful for global
security.
