Dear Mr. President Clinton,
How to maintain a balanced military might across the Taiwan Strait, is the most
important issue in future United States policy. The New York Times reported on Friday
(Feb. 12, 1999) that the number of missiles Beijing has deployed against Taiwan will
increase.
The reports said a study by the Pentagon on Taiwan, which is about to be presented to
the congress, showed that Beijing began to deploy 60 missiles against Taiwan in the 1990s,
and that number will increase to 600 in the next three years.
This indicates that the U.S. government believes it is necessary to maintain the
military balance on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to help solve Cross-Strait problems
peacefully.
"Strategic partnership" would be concerned by new coming future.
God be with you.
