Dear Mr. Kofi A. Annan,

The mainland Chinese ambassador to Skopje said earlier if Macedonia did not change its mind on Taiwan, mainland China would reconsider an extension of the mandate for U.N. Preventive Deployment, the 900-member peace force in Macedonia. The mandate, which expired on Feb. 28, needs approval in the U.N. Security Council where mainland China has a veto.

Taipei, Feb. 4 ---
The government said on Thursday its newly established diplomatic relations with Macedonia were strong, despite threats by mainland China to block an extension of the mandate for U.N. peace keeping force in the Balkan nation. "We don't think it (Beijing's threat) will affect our relations with Macedonia", Foreign Ministry spokesman Roy Wu said.

If Beijing really vetoed the extension of the U.N. Mandate in Macedonia, "it would run counter to the general hope of maintaining peace in that region" and the spirit of the U.N. peace keeping charter" Wu said.

In our views; don't let mainland China use the rights of United Nations to threaten Taiwan and Macedonia's rights, nevermore. We must maintain the spirits of U.N. that peace force in Macedonia and opposed any linkage between and extension of its mandate and the Macedonian government's recognition of Taipei.

Taiwan needs your support! God be with you.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
