Dear Mr. Trent Lott,
        Mr. Denny Hastert,

Taipei, Feb. 8 ---
Taipei will not put any restrictions on the topics to be discussed when mainland China's top negotiator with Taiwan comes to the island for a visit, Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) chairman Su Chi said on Monday.

But Su added that political discussions alone will not help the development of Cross-Strait relations. Su stressed that Wang's visit to Taiwan will be significant relations are back on track after Beijing's international tactics during the last presidential election in 1996.

The MAC chairman expressed the hope that the agenda could cover every field, and not just political issues and the three direct links --- trade, postal, transportation link --- between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.

The other reports; despite strong objections from opposition parties in Macedonia, Taiwan's newly- established diplomatic ties with the Balkan state remain unchanged, visiting Macedonia Information Minister Redzep Zlatku reaffirmed yesterday (Feb. 8, 1999). And Beijing is threatening to deter prolonging development of United Nation troops in the vibrant Balkan state. The Macedonia visitor said he believes a big country like mainland China is unlikely to take such spiteful action, which could greatly impact the national security of the European country. Communist China threatens to isolate Taiwan from diplomatic tie with any countries in the world.

In our views; democratic Taiwan can decide to align itself with any countries in the world. It would not affect the country's decision to link diplomatic tie with Taiwan.

"Mutual respect" and "democratic accomplishment" will be a great benefit to both sides.

So that, communist China needs your concern, and democratic Taiwan needs your support.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
