Dear Mr. Kofi A. Annan,

Beijing, March 1 ---
Stung by U.S. criticism of its record, mainland China issued a critique on Monday of human rights in the United States --- stressing rampant gun violence, overcrowded prisons, racial discrimination and poverty.

"The American government needs to keep its eyes on its own human rights situation, mind its own business and avoid interfering in the internal affairs of other countries", said the signed commentary by the official Xinhua News agent.

In focusing on social ills, the report underscored Beijing's view that individual human rights are eclipsed by the need to feed, clothe and shelter 1.2 billion people.

In our views, the human right is the basic rights of human. Any country cannot invade this human's nature rights. Democratic country has the law to protect the rights of human, whether it's rich or poor.

People need to feed, clothe and shelter that is country's responsibility, the respect human rights can keep more prosperity of people wishes. No nations can become a fully respected member of the international political and economic community without displaying genuine respect for international standards and human rights norms.

We urged China "not only to embrace in word, but also to observe in deed", the ICCRR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights) which China has promised to ratify.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
