February 28 Incident caused a great wound to Taiwan

Since The February 28 Incident in 1947, the public was feeling jittery and frightened, everything was waiting for reconstruction. The advance detachment of the Kuomintang came to the island, took over all the supplies from the Japanese; even so, life was difficult and harsh, all public constructions were forced to be put on a halt. Under this situation, the government had no confidence in Taiwan’s future. The public suffered deprivation and hardship, many were on the verge of nervous breakdown. The rich and the powerful managed to send their families abroad, those who stayed were politicians, soldiers and opportunist businessmen from the mainland, hence the February 28 Incident occurred. Taiwanese people repelled those who came from various provinces after the KMT took control of the island, therefore the latter often formed communities to support, to look out for each other.
