Dear Mr. Newt Gingrich,

Pakistan and Indian's tit for-tat nuclear tests have created a very dangerous and confusing security environment for Asia.

Will there be a nuclear arms race in south Asia? Will mainland China's nuclear arsenal now target India? Will nuclear diplomacy damage southeast Asian security? Will other Islamic states go nuclear? Will Israel reveal its nuclear power?

In contrast; Pakistan analysts said the nuclear tests would bring strategic stability to south Asia, isn't it?

All right; let us to look at who's playing the nuclear game and who's quit.

The declared nuclear powers and the status of others nations believed to be interested or involved in a nuclear program.

Declared nuclear nations:

United States

Britain

Mainland China

France

Russia

India

Pakistan

Widely believed to have nuclear weapons:

Israel

Widely believed to have dismantled its nuclear program:

South Africa

Nations with suspected nuclear weapons programs or aspirations:

Iran

Iraq

North Korea

Libya

"Taiwan is a part of China" will simmer up when U.S. President Bill Clinton's up coming visit to mainland China.

Democratic Taiwan, have non-nuclear weapons, following the international law; is a model of being getting out from U.N.

Where is the shelter of Taiwan? As we have learn from newspaper; as many as 18 Taiwan business people have been arrested or detained since March by mainland Chinese authorities on change of spying, sending chills down the spines of Taiwan

investor occupied with expanding their business on the mainland.

So far, Beijing's public security and judicial authorities have not given any detailed information about the arrests.

In fact, Beijing only announced the arrests on Thursday(May 26, 1998) when state-run Xinhua News agency and China Central Television made news of the arrests public.

There are an estimated 20,000 Taiwan business people in mainland China whose efforts have resulted in flourishing trade and booming investment in the mainland. Taiwan investment in mainland China in 1996 amounted to US$3.5 billion.

In the meantime, the ROC's Defense Ministry has denied any involvement in the "spycase" saying that Beijing "routinely" creates a "spycase" on the eve of the July 4 Tiananmen incident to smear the ROC's Intelligency agencies, and at the same time, warn mainland democracy activists.

So that above narration, Taiwan need your support. The U.S.-PRC meet won't help the actual state of affairs. Democratic mainland China is the really hope for our world.

Sincerely Yours,
Yang Hsu-Tung.
